National Forest Park-Linggu Temple

Situated at the eastern foot of Zhongshan Mountain, it is a scenic area including Linggu Temple, Beamless Hall, Songfeng Pavilion and Linggu Pagoda, etc. This area, known as “Pines deep in Linggu” in ancient times, is characterized by expansive pines, aromatic osmanthuses, fragrant grass as well as serene and zigzag paths. There are various scenic spots amidst lush forests and slender bamboo as well as limpid spring and winding water. The osmanthus garden with over 100 osmanthus trees is even more charming and verdant, attracting tourists so much.

Linggu Temple
As an ancient temple of the southern dynasty, it was built in 515 AD. The temple was moved here when Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming dynasty built the Ming Tomb. Part of the skull of master monk Xuanzhuang is preserved in the Memorial Hall of Master Monk Xuanzhuang.
Memorial Archway
The whole name is “The tablet-archway in memory of officers and soldiers of national revolutionary army killed in the war”. The horizontal board above the middle gate is engraved with “Immense kindness and benevolence”, while its back is carved with “Salvaging the state and people”, all inscribed by Zhang Jingjiang, one of the founders of KMT.
Beamless Hall
Built in 1381, it is called boundless hall since Buddha of Boundless Longevity is worshipped here. It is also called beamless hall because it was constructed with bricks in an arched structure without any wood. After 1929, it was changed into the sacrificial hall for the cemetery of officers and soldiers of national revolutionary army killed in the war.
Pine-wind Pavilion
Built in 1331, it was originally the memorial hall for officers and soldiers of national revolutionary army killed in the war. During the period of the Republic of China, it was used to collect and exhibit precious gifts presented by people for memorizing Dr. Sun Yat-sen and revolutionaries.
